Arthritis Knee Braces: Which One Do I Want?

Someday I may end up in a wheelchair because of my debilitating arthritis. But, today is not the right time for that. Today, I need to find an arthritic knee brace to help support these pain-filled joints and help me to maintain my mobility and independence. The problem is which one do I purchase? Which arthritic knee brace will help me the most?

Types Of Knee Braces

There are a variety of arthritis knee braces available on the market. Depending upon your individual needs, any one of the following may well be exactly what you are searching for.

The Palumbo Knee Sleeve is designed for minor issues, such as lesser or beginning problems with arthritis. It offers heat and compression to the area, as well as support to the patella.

The Palumbo Patella Stabilizer also offers support to the patella, but it is stronger and much more stable than the sleeve. Support with this arthritic knee brace occurs throughout the range of motion of that joint.

The Genutrain Knee Brace is anatomically knitted and longer than most knee braces of this type. Also, it offers a closed patella for more support, as well as a contoured visoelastic insert for gentle yet intermittent pressure to support and protect the knee joint.

The Gaitlock Splint is manufactured by Donjoy and provides support in full extension. This arthritic knee brace is recommended for post-surgery patients and can be altered to allow for a full-range of motion with the simple click of a button.

The Palumbo Arthroscopic Knee Wrap is another arthritic knee brace recommended for post-operation wear, but may also be worn by those who suffer rheumatoid arthritis as it offers good compression support for that joint.

Counter Force Knee Wrap is the smallest of the arthritic knee braces but is a powerful weapon against the constant pain that can put a sufferer on their knees. The back is only 2 inches wide, which allows for a full range of motion. However, don't let the size fool you, the Velcro fasteners allow this brace to be adjusted to just the right compression level.

Which One To Buy

While these are only a few of the arthritis knee braces on the market, they offer a range of identifiable features to consider before purchasing. Some of the primary questions that you should consider in this quest include: What type of arthritis do I have? Is this a post-surgery device? How comfortable do I need it to be? Do I want to be able to adjust the compression level? How active am I? How much range of motion will my arthritis allow me to have? How much stability do I need? What does my doctor recommend?

Although it is often the case that arthritis sufferers often peruse the knee brace counters alone, it is recommended that you ask your doctor what would be the best option for you. Not only can she make a great recommendation, but also may be able to help fit you with the device, which will completely alleviate the question of "which arthritis knee brace will help me most"?
